Peter TattooTattoo Aftercare Instructions Cleaning Solutions A mild soap, preferably a liquid antibacterial soap such as Dial Antibacterial, and an ointment such as A & D Ointment or TattooGoo® . Cleaning Instructions The life of your tattoo is dependent upon the care it receives in the first few days. - Before cleanings wash hands thoroughly with liquid antibacterial soap and hot water. Never touch the healing tattoo with dirty hands.
- Gently wash the tattoo with an antibacterial soap and water within two hours of receiving it. Be sure to remove all surface blood and excess pigments. Dry with a clean, disposable tissue or paper towel.
- Apply a VERY thin coat of the ointment after washing.
- Repeat this process 3-5 times a day for a week.
- Once all peeling has occurred discontinue use of ointment and begin to use a mild hand lotion such as Curel® or Lubriderm®.
What Is Normal - The tattoo may become tender during healing
- The tattoo may become slightly raised and skin surrounding the tattoo may become red during the healing period, which should dissipate after a few days.
- After a few days the tattoo will develop a layer of dry skin. As you use the ointment, rub it in firmly, the skin will roll off much like the dry skin from a sunburn
- Once all peeling has occurred, a milky white coating may appear on the surface of the tattoo. This is nothing more than the new skin rejuvenating over the tattoo. This will fade within a few days.
What To Avoid - Do not let the tattoo dry out.
- Do not pick the tattoo.
- Do not expose the tattoo to direct sunlight for two weeks
- Avoid hot tubs, swimming pools and saunas for at least two weeks.
The tattoo is your responsibility after you leave the studio. The tattoo that you have just received is considered permanent which can only be removed by a surgical or laser procedure. Although, if effective in removal, certain procedures my leave scarring. - Use common sense.
